  • We have changed our name to FIST ENGINE

May/June 2003

  • Please help us welcome two new members to the family: Brent McKnight on drums and Paul Rickard on lead guitar.
  • We are one of 7 unsigned bands with a link to our Web site from Voivod's official fan Web Site! Voivod is the respected Canadian prog metal band now featuring Jason Newstead, formally of Metallica. Voivod rocks! See them on Ozzfest this year.
  • D.U.D. has finally scheduled a new show! July 10th at T&A Rockz in Ft. Worth, TX. We will be playing two new songs: The Sleeping Ones and Bullet Tongue.
April  2003
  • Lead guitarist Brian Theodore has decided to leave the band after a good two year run with D.U.D. to concentrate on graduate school.

January 2003

  • Congratulations to proud parents Paul and Trista on the arrival of their baby boy! Richard James Bolton was born on the 30th of January 2003.
  • D.U.D. is now auditioning drummers. Please contact the band if you are interested.
  • The band has written three new songs that we hope to have ready for the upcoming gigs. Working titles are: Your Eyes, Personal Judas (an old one we have brought back), and Wake Me When I'm Dead. We hope to get into the studio in February to record these along with the live staples Down and Who the Hell. 

December 2002

  • Excellent drummer and good friend Jay, from the killer local band Mile Zero, will be filling in for us until a permanent replacement for Matt is found.
  • Drummer Matt Loria has left the band due to personal commitments with family and work. We wish Matt the best in all of his endeavors and we want to thank him for his hard work, dedication, and honesty!  
  • Paul Bolton has joined the band on bass. Paul is a madman on bass and brings a heavier style of playing to the band. Come out to one of the shows and check him out!
  • Bassist Todd Baker has decided to leave the band in order to concentrate on the producing, recording, and engineering side of the business. The bands wishes Todd all the luck in the world with his new project! If you need a demo done, Todd is the man -- just drop the band a line and we will hook you up with him.

October 2002

  • 10/1/02 D.U.D. added to the Halloween Hellfest II at the Ridglea Theater. See the shows page for more details.

September 2002

  • 9/13/02 Evans Drum Heads now sponsors Matt Loria! Evans is a great company and we look forward to a long relationship with them.
  • 9/12/02 Due to an illness of one of the band members, the show at the Ridglea Theater in Ft. Worth has been cancelled.

August 2002

  • "Beneath the Surface" will be the title of the new D.U.D. CD Demo EP. Release date is set for August 30th (see "showz" for release party information.) We have finished the recording stage of the project and have the final mixing, mastering, artwork, and reproduction left.
  • Rough mix MP3s of Ocean of Memories and Black Circles are available from MP3.com @ http://artists.mp3s.com/artists/390/deep_under_dirt.html 
  • The show scheduled for 8/16/02 at Graffiti's Rock Room has been cancelled due to conflicting schedules with day job business travel. We will let you know as soon as we get another show scheduled there.

July 2002

  • Matt Loria (drummer) and Hannah are proud to announce the birth of their daughter Melody!
  • 7/14/02 Demo update -- all recording completed except for backing vocals. Release date set for August 30th.

June 2002

  • 6/25/02 Show at the Dirty Perch for 6/29/02 has been cancelled due to the club being temporarily closed.
  • 6/11/02 Pix page added to the site.
  • 6/09/02 Stumpy's Blues Bar 06/09/02 11PM Arlington, TX Between 157 & Cooper on Division -- Battle of the Bands. This is a new date - original schedule was the following week.

May 2002

  • Band writes three new songs, "Rosemary Midnight", "Black Circles" and "Personal Judas."
  • Recording continues for demo. Drum tracks completed.

April 2002

  • 4/20/02 Layne Staley of Alice in Chains, dead at age 34 (1967-2002). Huge influence and creative inspiration for D.U.D. In fact, the band name is a tribute to Alice in Chains -- deep under the influence of the "Dirt" album.
  • 4/25/02 D.U.D. at the UTA Bowling & Billiards in the University Center. Cancelled.
  • 4/19/02 Club Optimo (Arlington, TX) 3005 E Abrams and 360, 10:30pm.
  • 4/8/02 Practice session MP3 files of "Lonely Nightmare" and "My Fear" are added to the site. They are available from the soundz page.
  • 4/7/02 Mailing list address added to the site. Available from the home and fanz page.

March 2002

  • D.U.D. Yahoo! Group added to Web site. Join now to get on the mailing list and participate in the D.U.D. online community.
  • Practice session MP3 files of "Ocean of Memories" and "Ride" are uploaded to the site. They are available from the soundz page.
  • Deep Under Dirt begin working on yet untitled demo. The CD will include 4 to 6 original D.U.D. songs.
  • Deep Under Dirt announces that drummer Matt Loria has joined the band after an almost one year search to fill the position.

February 2002

  • Band officially adopts name and logo after a lengthy name search. The band was to be called "Rosemary Midnight" after an original song title, however after much discussion and feedback from friends and family, the name is changed.
  • Todd Baker joins unnamed band on bass and keyboards. 

August 2001

  • Stephen Phillips joins founding band members on vocals.

April 2001

  • Brian Harshaw and Brian Theodore meet via the Internet (musician.com) and form the core of what is to become Deep Under Dirt. The original name of the duo was "Dark Skies."
